North Creek Newbie

Julia Smagorinsky, Section Grower

A new year, a new face - we'd like to introduce you to the newest Creeker, Julia Smagorinsky!

A German native, Julia grew up outside of Hamburg in the town of Pinneberg. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture/Plant Production and a Master's of Science in Agricultural Economics and Social Sciences from the University of Hohenheim located in the south of Stuttgart, Germany.

Julia moved to the States 10 years ago and quickly settled into life in Salem, Connecticut. It was there that she and her husband managed Woodbridge Farm (now Provider Farm), an organic biodynamic 200 member CSA. For 6 years they tended over 150 varieties of vegetables, made cheese, and raised cattle, turkeys, chickens and pigs. Most recently, Julia has taken a step away from the stables and cultivating the earth to focus more closely on cultivating the minds of her two small children.

At North Creek, Julia will serve as a Section Grower on our Oxford, PA farm where she will be responsible for the care and health of our perennial liners. Our motto has always been Great Plants Start Here™ and now these same great plants will be managed by Julia until they arrive to your door.

Julia's Stats:

Favorite Book: Edible Forest Gardens by Dave Jacke with Erik Toensmeier

Hobbies: Playing the piano, reading, running, swimming, hiking & spending time outdoors with her family.

Enjoys Most About North Creek: Julia loves to be around plants and to learn as much as they have to teach. She enjoys the camaraderie at North Creek, "The team atmosphere makes it easy to come to work each day with the added bonus to work within the support and knowledge of such talented coworkers."

We're glad you're part of the team, Julia. We look forward to many years of growing with you!
